Seeking Volunteers to Provide Medical Care to Migrant Families
We are seeking volunteer physicians, nurses and health professional students to provide care to migrant families recently released from facilities in Dilley and Karnes City.
Volunteers should arrive at Casa de RAICES at 5 p.m. and can leave after the evening's patients have been seen. Physicians should wear their UT Health ID badges and bring their own stethoscopes, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes and prescription pads.
Some important notes:
If this is the first time you are volunteering for RAICES, please complete and submit the organization's volunteer form in advance.
All UTHSCSA faculty must notify their Department Chair via email that they are participating in this activity. Once the Department Chair endorses the activity, the university's medical malpractice policy will cover faculty practicing within their scope of duty and licensed area of qualifications.
UTHSCSA adjunct faculty must independently verify through their departments that their malpractice coverage is active.
- UTHSCSA students must be supervised by faculty from their school (i.e., medical students must be supervised by School of Medicine faculty, etc.)
