The Novel Clinical and Translational Methodologies (NCTM) and the Ethics Key Function Groups (KFG) as part of the Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science (IIMS) will host monthly Forums on Translational Research Ethical Advice on Teamwork. These Forums are combined educational efforts organized by both KFGs. Forums will include topics related to the contextual and ethical issues associated with conducting translation research. The Forums will bring together investigators from basic, clinical, and social sciences to freely discuss facilitators and barriers to enabling the work of multidisciplinary research team [MDRT].

Objective

The goal of TREAT is to provide open platform to stimulate discussion on the contextual and ethical issues associated with conducting translation research among researchers affiliated with IIMS [e.g., UTHSCSA]. TREAT will encourage open debate; tackle hot topics and feature feedback and reflection among participants. The format will be very interactive and follow problem-solving and solution-focused techniques to ethical concerns raised by participants.

    1. 1.Help researchers learn to identify ethical concerns encountered in their work
    2. 2.Discuss the hidden curriculum of science
    3. 3.Work toward finding workable solutions
